Create a local VM for Ansible Development

1. First you have to download the ova-file (which can be found on EMA Machinefile, under Treeelement - Ansible) to a local directory. The tree-element is debian11-ansible-start-image.

rsync pf-department-vm:/var/lib/vz/template/qemu/debian11-ansible-start-230201.ova /home/...
  1. Open VirtualBox.

  • Select File.

  • Import appliance.

  • Select the downloaded OVA-file.

  1. Now check the settings of the VM:

  • Go to settings, network, adapter 1, advanced, and check port forwarding.

  • The preset rule is host port 30000 and guest port 22.

Hint

The port can only be used once. Increment if you use more than one virtual machine.

  1. Add the following to your local ssh-config ~/.ssh/config: (adjust the port number to the host port you configured above)

Host perfact-mail-localdev
    HostName 127.0.0.1
    Port 30000
    User perfact
    SendEnv GIT_* EDITOR
    ForwardAgent no
